  • Outdoor Leadership Series

    3-hour sessions (Minimum)
    8-10 Sessions
    The Outdoor Leadership Series is designed for educators, aspiring outdoor enthusiasts or for professionals that want to gain new information or new perspectives on old skills. Each week, we will have an opportunity to explore a different topic. This course will be very informative and hands-on. Most days we will start with a discussion and then proceed with various demonstrations and activities.

    Classes: Camp Craft Skills, First Aid and Lost Person Scenarios, Menu and Food Planning, Outdoor Cooking, Intro to Maps, Basic Navigation, Know your Knots, Wilderness Survival, Intro to Backpacking, Intro to Canoeing

  • Introduction to Backpacking

    3-hour (Minimum)
    Are you thinking about heading out on a trail and going backpacking? There is nothing like carrying your home on your back, listening to the sound of your boots on the trail, and the simplicity of it all. This course is designed to go over the important aspects of backpacking along with the gear & equipment needed for your adventure. We will go over ten essential items that you will need to bring with you on your trip. Learn how to properly pack a backpack and understand the different types of backpacks. We will go over LNT principles, what skills you will need to know prior to your trip and what to do if anything goes wrong on your trip.

  • Wilderness Meditation Retreat

    1–5-day Wilderness Retreats
    Experiencing a wilderness meditation retreat is a unique way to be in the natural world. This retreat is designed to support each participant and help guide us to relax, feel at peace, and to allow us to listen to our own inner truth. During this retreat, we will give you various tools and skills to bring back to your daily practice. You will receive guided instruction in the following areas during this wilderness meditation retreat: Awareness; Mindfulness approach; Meditations (guided, walking, sitting, paddling); Gentle stretching, Crafts such as beading and painting; Group dialogue and discussions aimed at enhancing awareness in everyday life; and Tools for healthier lifestyle.

  • Introduction to Canoeing

    3-hour (Minimum)
    This course is for anyone who is interested in learning how to canoe. We will go over safety in and around the water; parts and design of the canoe, and PFDs; basic safety equipment; how to enter and exit a canoe; learn basic paddle strokes: forward, reverse, sweeps, draws and push-away.

  • Outdoor Cooking

    3-hour course (Minimum)
    Have you ever wanted to learn how to make delicious foods over a fire? This is the class for you. We will go over some favorite’s backcountry recipes. In this course, we will go over how to cook with a Dutch Oven, Pie Irons, using wood sticks, gill over the fire, and camp stoves. We will even bring out the Coleman oven and bake some cookies.

  • Basic Navigation

    3-hour (Minimum)
    It is important to be able to read a map and how to use a compass. We will go over the basic features of a compass and how to use it with a map. You will learn about magnetic north, true north, and magnetic variation (declination). After covering the fundamentals, we will pull it all together and take time to practice by taking a bearing.

  • Advanced Outdoor Cooking

    3-hour course (Minimum)
    In this course, we will make some delicious outdoor cooking recipes. We will bake a in the Dutch oven, make paper bag meals, use a reflector oven, foil meals, pie irons, and cook with other outdoor ovens. Students will also receive materials and instruction to make their own alcohol stoves. All new recipes from previous classes. Join us for dinner and an adventure in outdoor cooking.

  • Evening Paddle

    3-hour course (Minimum)
    Moonlight paddling is an amazing way to get out on the water and explore the nightlife. This 3-hour tour is for people of all ages and abilities. We will start the evening with an introduction to canoes, paddles, and paddle strokes. We will provide canoes, paddles, PFDs, and instruction/guiding. Confirmation will be mailed with directions to tour location.

  • Introduction to Maps

    3-hour (Minimum)
    A map and compass is a necessary piece of equipment to take with you on an adventure. What is more important is understanding how to use tools. We will go over the basics of map features, symbols and color, terrain features, contour lines, measuring distance, and determining direction of travel.

  • Camp Craft Skills

    3-hour course (Minimum)
    Gain the skills needed for remote camping and include: tent pitching, building temporary shelters and emergency shelters from natural materials, camp safety, fire building, backpack stove use and maintenance, and review Leave no Trace principles including how to set up a bear bag.

  • First Aid and Lost Person Scenarios

    3-hour course (Minimum)
    In this course, we will go over some basic items that you should have in your first aid kit. We will go over how to treat soft tissue injuries and what to do if you sprained your ankle. We will also go over the basic information on how to stay found in the wilderness and what to do if someone in your party is missing.

  • Menu and Food Planning

    3-hour course (Minimum)
    Food is an important aspect of any trip. Taking time to plan ahead and prepare for delicious, nutritious, and well-balanced meals is imperative to a successful adventure. We will go over how to create a menu, understand the calorie intake needed for different types of trips, review the types of foods and what you should and should not bring out on a trip.

  • Know Your Knots

    3-hour (Minimum)
    Knots are always a good skill to know before you head out into the wilderness. We will go over some these knots square knot, figure eight, double figure eight, figure eight inline, bowline, killick hitch, girth hitch, prusik knot, and even the Swiss Seat which is a climbing harness you make out of static or webbing rope

  • Introduction to Wilderness Survival

    3-hour (Minimum)
    In any given situation our plans could change, and our trip needs to find an alternative route, activity, shelter, and substance. Even the best of Outdoor Professionals needs to rely on their wilderness and primitive skills. In this course, we will go over these four topics: shelter, water, fire and food. This course will be filled with hands-on activities and demonstrations.

  • Women's Full Moon Paddle

    3 -hour course (Minimum)
    Women come join me for a sweet paddle. This is your night to get away from it all and just hang out and be with other women in the wilderness under the full moon. This tour is for women of all ages and abilities. We will start the evening with an introduction to canoes, paddles, and paddle strokes. We will provide canoes, paddles, PFDs, and instruction/guiding. This trip is for anyone who identifies as a woman

  • Wildlife and Habitat Survey

    3-5 Day Wilderness Expedition
    People of all ages can appreciate and understand the natural world, and this expedition will leave participants with the ability to bring activities and skills to any age group. This course will introduce participants to important concepts and techniques related to wildlife and their habitat in a variety of aquatic and terrestrial environments. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to design and lead their own simple wildlife/habitat surveys using free and low-budget equipment. Participants will be educated on specific species and their habitat needs to provide context in the reasoning for the surveys. Participants will learn how to create an instrument that is used to measure water turbidity that can be easily recreated in the classroom with students. They will be provided with instructions on how to create other relevant instruments as well as be given information on relevant, free or inexpensive phone applications that may be used in the field to assist the surveyor.
