Introduction to Whittling: Wooden Spoon - Damariscotta, Maine

Spoon carving is a wonderful craft that allows you to create functional and beautiful wooden spoons using traditional hand tools. These spoons will be the size of a serving spoon with a handle of 6”-8”. 
We will go over the following for creating a skill for life:

  • Gathering the proper tools and materials

  • Caring and sharpening your tools

  • Using your knives and various techniques

  • Refining your cut

  • Selecting the wood and how to prepare it

  • Creating a rough shape

  • How to make the “bowl”

  • Shaping the handle and creating designs

  • Sanding and treating the spoon

  • Remember to take your time, work carefully, and practice!

Carving a wooden spoon can be a satisfying and rewarding woodworking project. A great way to spend time with a loved one, a friend, or join us for the night to meet new people!

Course fee covers material, instruction, and a spoon or two to take home!
